Some people like CamelCase. Some don’t but they still have to deal with it. So I once wrote and posted a utility that displays UnreadableIdentifiers properly, as Unreadable_Identifiers.
The reactions were surprising. rms said the utility “is bizarrely creative”. Several people sent me thankful e-mails. And it is pleasing to see that even more than 20 years later, people can get excited about it and find it useful.
I’m often very unhappy about corporate software that I have to use. Despite it’s commercially successful software making lots of money. I don’t know about the feelings of those who write it. But I know how true joy can come from writing small free software contributions that make one’s life easier and other people happy. Software made by users for users.
